The BEMB Trust was founded in 1971 using mainly the residual funds (approximately £550k) available when the former British Egg Marketing Board was disbanded. The Trust's remit was to support the "improvement and advancement ..... of the production of hen or duck eggs in the UK ..... by advancing, promoting, conducting, encouraging ..... education, investigations, research and experimental or development work to that end ..... " The Trust consists of 3 nominated Trustees and 3 co-opted Trustees, at least one of whom should be an eminent poultry (eggs) scientist. They can also be joined by scientific advisers who act as Observers. The Trust has, throughout its history, achieved its aims by using its limited funds to: |
